Young Kim

Young Kim

In July 2023, I began my professional art career with an exhibition at Sparrow Gallery in Denison, Texas. Since then, I have engaged with the artistic communities of Prosper and Frisco, expanding both my practice and connections.

Working across acrylic, collage, ink, and oil on paper, wood, and canvas, I select materials intuitively, allowing each subject to guide the medium. Exploration and experimentation remain central to my process.

A self-taught artist, I returned to painting later in life, reclaiming a long-held passion with renewed commitment.

Born in Korea and now based in New York, Young Kim participates weekly in online life drawing sessions led by Helen Roeten.

Influenced by John Singer Sargent and Egon Schiele, I explore the expressive range of portraiture through the tension between refinement and rawness.
