My works feature things women hear far too often - in the office, on the street, at home. Snide remarks, faux compliments, and casual put-downs are stripped of their context and shown plainly: blunt, bold, and unmissable. Referencing the everyday language that reinforces gendered power, the series speaks to themes explored in The Handmaid’s Tale - where control begins not with violence, but with speech. Set against a backdrop of growing political unrest, regressive leadership, and renewed attacks on bodily autonomy, these works serve as a reminder: this isn’t fiction - it’s familiar.
